Eingefuhrt 1933 vom "Aquarium Hamburg" benehmen an Aphyosemuin gulare (Boul.). Am nachtsten verwandt nit Aphyosemion (Fundulopanchax) spurelli (Boul), von dem sie sich durch kleinere Schuppen, grosfreses auge und noch andere Merkmale unterscheidet, und dem Aphyosemion (Fundulopanchax) coerulleum (Boul.), von dem sie unterscheiden werden kann durch den niendrigeren Korper, den kurzeren Kopf, das grossere Auge, weniger Flossenstrahlen in der Rucken- und Afterflosse, andere Gestalt der Afterflosse usw. Der Autor Dr. E. Ahl eklart: "Es erscheint mir nicht unmoglich, das Aphyosemion fallax ein Bastard zwishen den beiden obengenanenten Arten ist" Der ausfall der Nachzucht konnle diese Frage klaren. Mitteilungen uber evtl. Zucht und die vorhandene oder nicht vorhandene Winheitlichkeit der Farbung der Nachzucht von eiwandfrei als Aphyosemion fallax erkannten Tieren waren also sehr erwuncht, desgleichen Wiederimport.

Introduced in 1933 by the "Aquarium Hamburg" it is called Aphyosemuin gulare (Boul.). It is most closely related to Aphyosemion (Fundulopanchax) spurelli (Boul.), from which it differs by smaller scales, large eyes and other characteristics, and to Aphyosemion (Fundulopanchax) coerulleum (Boul.), from which it can be distinguished by its smaller body, shorter head, larger eyes, fewer rays in the dorsal and anal fins, different shape of the anal fin, etc. The author Dr. E. Ahl explains: "It does not seem impossible to me that Aphyosemion fallax is a hybrid between the two species mentioned above." The failure of breeding could clarify this question. Information about possible breeding and the existing or non-existent uniformity of coloration of the offspring of animals clearly identified as Aphyosemion fallax were therefore very welcome, as was re-import.
