Original spelling sidibei emended to sidibeorum in an Erratum, Sonnenberg & Busch, 2011. Huber 2011:15 considers sibibei as the correct original spelling that should be maintained.
The species name was based on Mr. Samba Sidibe and his family; Catalog of fishes treats sidibei as an incorrect original spelling, and that must be emended to sidibeorum according to Art. 31.1.2-3.

"Callopanchax sidibeorum. Initially the species was named sidibei. The ending "i" refers to a single person, Sidibi. However, the text also states that the family is mentioned. In that case, if multiple people are being referred to, the ending becomes "orum." Sonnenberg, who described the species, immediately corrected this. If this is not officially done immediately, the initial name will remain valid. For example, Aphyosemion lamberti is named after two different people named Lambert.
